History of GCA

Led of God, the congregation of Grace Baptist Church began a pilot preschool program in the Fall of 2008, for its members. Five students enrolled in a half-day program that met two mornings a week. Cindy Daggett and Angel Banks volunteered their time and services as teacher and assistant for the 2008-09 school year. In the course of that first year, a school board was formed and the school was given a name, Grace Christian Academy.

God blessed the efforts of this new ministry and in the Fall of 2009, the program was expanded to a four day program and opened up to the community. Using the A Beka curriculum, the academy enrolled 12 four year olds, and 2 five year olds. Cindy Daggett and Angel Banks continued to team teach these grades. A large monetary gift in the amount of $100,000 was given to the school from the trustees of the former New Hope Church. These monies were gratefully designated for tuition scholarships and put into the New Hope Endowment Fund.

God made provisions for Grace Christian Academy to further expand in 2010 with a combined 1st, 2nd & 3rd grade classroom. In 2011-12, 4th grade and a five day preschool program were added. Kindergarten parents were also offered the full day or half day option.

A State Fire Marshall’s inspection required Grace Baptist Church to do extensive remodeling of their church building to accommodate the school for safety reasons. All grades below 2nd grade are currently housed in ground level classrooms. Fire doors, a sprinkling system, and another main floor classroom were also added.

We started our 5th year at Grace Christian Academy with the addition of 5th grade. The Evangel Arts building and grounds were also acquired by Grace Baptist Church and were generously offered to the school for its use. The children now have a large area for recess and an auditorium for programs and chapels. In 2013-14, we added 6th grade as our last elementary grade, and for added security and protection a surveillance system and locked entry were added in 2017.

2017-18 finds Grace Christian Academy celebrating its 10th year!  We have enjoyed having many dedicated and talented teachers through out the school’s history. Likewise, GCA has always had a solid school board comprised of many community members, pastors, and parents who desired to serve our GCA family. We are indeed thankful for their commitment and service.  Our parent association, GCAPA, continues to be our key supporter and fundraiser for the school. They have organized the ICUBS and Krispy Kreme fundraisers, along with manning a County Fair Food Booth each summer. They support our teachers and students in numerous ways through out the school year, and are indeed a blessing to us all.

Grace Christian Academy continues to function as an auxiliary ministry of Grace Baptist Church. We are indebted to our church family for housing the school and for sacrificially supporting us these past ten years. Our desire is to continue to grow and serve families in Madison County by providing an excellent Christian education with a Biblical Worldview. Most of all, our desire is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and bring honor and glory to His precious name.

In His Service,
Cindy Daggett
